Way behind, so I'm just going to post these pics....

These are from our trip to a nearby chateau known as the "Versailles of Moscow". It's a VERY popular place for newlyweds to come and take photos. Enjoy the scenery. Some of the poses are just awesome- Petr and I are keeping them catalogued so we can imitate such professionalism in our own wedding photos. We also hope that our guests will show up in similar outfits.

You can't go anywhere without seeing ice cream for sale. Russians love them some ice cream!

Paintings for sale. I bought you all giraffes.

A small pond with a swimming dock. Too cold for that at the moment!

Part of the chateaux complete which serves as a sanatorium for military officers.

Russian countryside does exist!

This one was tropical themed, with a back-drop and everything!

I think she might have been a bride too. Or I hope so. Isn't there some faux pas about wearing white to a wedding if you aren't the bride?

Perfect shoes for a Sunday stroll.

There was a nice church there too, but I forgot my headscarf so I couldn't go inside.

Old style wooden roof

The wedding parties always bring champagne with them to the shoot. Here they are drinking in the park.

This has got to be one of my favorites.

The second half is in Moscow, the day before the big celebration of the end of WWII. We met some old man who gave us pins from the USSR and told us all about how society has gone to hell in a hand basket since the fall of Communism. I wish his opinion was more uncommon, but he's the third, sort of unwashed elderly person who's waxed lyrical to us about the good ol' Soviet days.

All lined up at the Kremlin walls

Practicing for the 8th of May celebrations

They used hundreds of buses to transport the military.

Kremlin from across the river

Police and military everywhere, and nothing much to do.

These were everywhere. Totally old school.

old Soviet memorabilia for sale

Said man. He spoke to me for like 5 minutes without knowing that I didn't understand him. I just nodded. Old people don't really care if your listening or not, they just want someone to talk at. Especially in the supermarket.

Me and my pin.

  1. Please never stop posting pictures of the people. It really makes my day. I especially love the tree posers. Make sure you include some of that in your wedding photos. And holy crap, I get to see you in like ... 3 weeks, and I'm ridiculously excited!
