Music shows

Petr and I are sitting watching TV right now in total disbelieve at the number of kitchy, pop-music-based shows on right now. Bright lights, tacky costumes, dancing girls...on nearly every channel.  And the audiences are eating it up! Everyone's dancing and clapping like this is the best thing since sliced bread. And then Valery Leontiev came on and I nearly died of laughter. Apparently this guy won Best Singer of Russia 1996 or whatever, and was huge in the early 80s. Scratch that- apparently he's still a big deal. I honestly don't know why because he can't sing and he looks, well...he makes Cher look natural. I checked, and was normal at one point. Let's do a comparison:

Cher in the 60s, looking fresh and sweet.
Cher now, looking "fresh" in a preserved sort of way
Young Valery: kinda like a  Russian Bob Dylan
Valery now: child rapist. Ok, perhaps that's too harsh, but mothers: would you leave your kid alone with this? I didn't think so.
So, if you're looking for a good belly laugh, check out Mr. Leontiev's webpage and click on "фото".

I'm telling you, this dude rivals Liberace when it comes to inventive dress. Like I said earlier, it's a circus here. Oh Russia, keep it coming!
