Moving day is here

All of our crap

The clothes

It looks so empty now! And clean;-)
The van came today for our stuff. I've been working like mad all week organizing our things and putting them in boxes. It's exhausting! You just don't realize how much stuff you've got squirreled away until you have to dig it all out from the dusty hole where it's been lying and determine each's fate, piece by piece, yea or nay. And we've only inhabited our little Prague Podoli apartment since May. I dread the idea of owning a home, or worse, a home AND a storage unit, for how ever many years, and then moving house. It must take months! It's just Petr and I now and though, granted, he's got a lot of clothes (*snicker* much more than I) we really haven't got too many possessions. We don't even own plates or a set of silverware! I think there were about 13 or 14 boxes ranging from small to fridge-sized and a washer and that's it. Petr's colleague who is also coming has a 13 year old and a newborn. Now that would be a painful process! I've seen how much people with kids can cart around on a day to the beach- it's like a small caravan. I shutter to think what they must be going through.

Now we are sitting in our empty flat, plane tickets in hand (finally) and preparing ourselves both practically and mentally for our 9:10 flight tomorrow morning. Only 2.5 hours- not so bad, and a hot meal to boot! Moscow is promising us 6-degrees (45F) and rain. And so it begins....
Oh, and we were told that our things will arrive next Monday, not Saturday as previously though. My plant is so going to die.

Next post from Mother Russia.
